The Columbus Blue Jackets are reportedly listening to offers on the 2026 Norris Trophy winner, Zach Werenski, according to TSN NHL insider Pierre LeBrun.

LeBrun reports that Werenski is unlikely to sign an extension with the Blue Jackets, and his future with the organization remains up in the air. The Michigan native has two seasons remaining on his contract at $9.58 million, with a full no-movement clause through the 2026-27 season, and a modified no-trade clause during the 2027-28 season.

Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell said last week the team would sit down with Werenski following the NHL Draft.

“There are some matters we’re dealing with that should probably stay internal. My plan is still to meet with Zach in the near future and see where he’s at,” Waddell told reporters last Thursday. ”We’ve had some conversations with his agent, but there’s been no definitive plan."

If Werenski were to hit the trade block, he would instantly become the most coveted player on the market. The Norris Trophy winner registered 81 points, including 22 goals in 75 games this season. The Blue Jackets during the 2025-26 season finished with 92 points, seven shy of the Ottawa Senators for the final wild card spot. Columbus has not qualified for the postseason since the 2019-20 season, when they were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

LeBrun also reports that many teams will begin to inquire about Werenski, but there is no guarantee the 28-year-old will be dealt this summer; however, another major blockbuster could be hitting the NHL soon.
