The Toronto Maple Leafs have made one of the biggest moves of the NHL offseason, signing veteran goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky to a three-year contract worth $21 million, adding a proven Stanley Cup winner to stabilize their crease heading into the 2026-27 season.

Bobrovsky joins Toronto after a decorated career that includes multiple Vezina Trophies and back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Florida Panthers. The move signals a clear push by the Maple Leafs’ new front office led by general manager John Chayka and senior executive advisor Mats Sundin to reshape the roster immediately.

The deal carries an average annual value of $7 million, placing Bobrovsky in a key role as Toronto looks to rebound from a disappointing season that saw them miss the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

Toronto has struggled to find consistent stability in net in recent years, cycling through multiple starters without securing a long-term solution. Bobrovsky is expected to bring experience, leadership, and playoff pedigree to a goaltending group that also includes Anthony Stolarz and Artur Akhtyamov.

Maple Leafs management has made it clear that roster changes are far from over, but adding a goaltender of Bobrovsky’s calibre marks one of the most significant early moves of the offseason.

With a new front office, a reshaped roster, and major decisions still ahead, Toronto is clearly signalling that a full reset is underway and Bobrovsky is expected to play a central role in that turnaround.
